Step-Free Garden Path and Retaining Walls

This Paignton garden had a significant gradient that limited comfortable access between its different levels. The client wanted a safer route without losing valuable planting or garden character. Vectorscape developed a continuous, gently graded pathway using broad turns and practical resting areas.

A separate staircase provided a shorter route for visitors who preferred steps. Natural-stone retaining walls stabilised the levels and created attractive raised planting beds. Textured paving delivered a secure surface while complementary borders defined the route. Handrails added confidence along the steeper sections and visually connected the pathway.

The finished layout now provides easier movement between the patio, garden and upper lawn. It also transforms a difficult slope into an organised, welcoming outdoor space.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful landscaping can balance access, structure and appearance.
